Today's Workout: A Circuit
When you’re crunched for time, sometimes it's hard to convince yourself to work out. While I hate being rushed through a workout, if I go into it with an exact plan, I am way more efficient and actually end up getting a lot more out of it. The perfect workout when you don't have a ton of time is, then, a circuit: it's straightforward, concise, and can be modified according to the amount of time that you have.
Here is one of my favorite circuits that I do rather frequently (1-2 times per week). The reps are short but will leave you out of breathe, toned, and definitely feeling like you got a good sweat in when you're finished.
1 mile run
10 burpees (without push-ups)
100 abs (I do 5 x 20 or 4 x 25 of different exercises)
10 bodyweight squats
15 dips (triceps)
*Rest: 3-5 minutes
Repeat this circuit 3-5 times
If you aren’t really a runner (or are a beginner) don’t be freaked out by the mile run in the beginning. If you can’t get up to it yet, start by walking a mile, or running until you are tired and then walking the rest of the distance. Listen to your body, only you know what you are capable of starting with.
